The Newstead Abbey Season Ticket makes an ideal gift!

Success on a plate for Newstead Abbey



Independent charity, The Art Fund, is delighted to announce that Nottingham City Museums and Galleries in Nottinghamshire has bought a rare set of ornate 19th-century porcelain plates at auction in New York to be displayed across 3 heritage site; Newstead Abbey, Wollaton Hall and Nottingham Castle. New Hearing Loop Installed



Newstead has now completed the installation of a new hearing loop system, people with hearing difficulties can look forward to much better hearing quality with the delivery of clear, sharp and customized sound directly from inside their ears on switching to the “T” position. One of our members of staff, who uses hearing aids, comments that using the system makes hearing crystal clear.

Our new refined induction system transmits directly to hearing aids or if you like ”in the ear loudspeakers”.

Fire Compartmentalisation Work Goes Ahead



Major works have already been carried out here at Newstead abbey with the inception of the first phase of fire compartmentalisation. Newstead Abbey is now starting the second stage of this project - to be able to slow down fire progression throughout the building.

New Audio Tour Now Available



The new audio tour for the Historic House continues to receive good acclaim from all that have used it, including the visually impaired version. As the visitor moves through the House, the audio tour brings the Abbey to life with acted scenes, anecdotes and sounds from various periods in the Abbey's rich and varied history.

The new hand held 'wands' are available from the House reception desk and cost £2.00 each.
