Arrow wins national 'Best
Magazine' award
Nottingham
Arrow , the City Council's magazine for residents, has won a top national award.
It
has been voted Best Civic Newspaper / Magazine (60,000 and over circulation) at the Chartered Institute
of Public Relations Local Government Group's annual Excellence Awards.
The
Arrow, which is distributed to all the 114,000 households in the city ten times a year, beat five other
councils which had also been shortlisted for the prestigious award.
Judges
said they were "impressed with Nottingham Arrow’s informal style and good use of
design and photography, making the magazine attractive to its target audience" and also praised
it for being easy to read and focusing on local people.
"Key
is that Nottingham produce different editions with information relating to the council’s nine area committees
areas, as well as special editions designed to appeal to specific groups in the city, including businesses
and students," continued the judges.
Special editions of the Arrow
have also been published over the last year aimed at the city's youth and at the over 50s. From this
month, the Arrow also includes a special jobs supplement containing information on City Council vacancies
and opportunities at other local public and private sector organisations
