Notice Nottingham - Splendour

Hello Nottingham!
Nottingham ’s new summer festival, Splendour, taps on the mike and shouts ‘Hello Nottingham!’ for the first time this weekend, bringing top names from the world of pop to our back yard. Kate Nash, The Charlatans, Paolo Nutini, Rufus Wainwright, Ocean Colour Scene, The Lemonheads and many others will be jostling for our attention in the fabulous grounds of Wollaton Hall on Saturday and Sunday, July 19th and 20th. And with the sun set to shine, the outlook’s good for a splendid first year for Splendour and for it to become a favourite fixture in Nottingham’s summer festival season.

In the mix
Splendour’s mainstage line-up mixes wellestablished favourites like The Charlatans, Ocean Colour Scene and The Lemonheads with artistes-of-the-moment like Kate Nash, Paulo Nutini and Rufus Wainwright. There’ll also be a moment in the spotlight for lesser known bands like the Beetroot Kings and House of Brothers. As if that wasn’t enough, there ’s another stage in the Wollaton Hall Courtyard, releasing an eclectic mix of musicians on an unsuspecting public – including local group Captain Dangerous who had their mainstage debut at last year’s Old Market Square opening party.

Splendid ticket offers
Splendour tickets are available from the Royal Centre box office or from a special stall set up in the Old Market Square this week. There are special offers for holders of Citycards and Citycard 360. Day and weekend tickets are also available online at: www.gigantic.com and www.alt-ticket.co.uk. The standard adult ticket is priced at £25 a day. Weekend tickets come with free parking at the event and all kids 10 years and under can get in absolutely free. There will be additional buses to and from Wollaton. On both nights a shuttle bus will be laid on to take people back into the city when the concert finishes.

And there’s more!
Oh yes, we almost forgot to mention that Just The Tonic will make it Wollaton Ha-hahall when they roll up with some top standups for the Comedy Stage on Sunday. Hosted by popular compere Matt Reed, the laughter session includes slots from Roger Monkhouse, Earl Okin and Ivan Brackenbury. For more fun and games, there’ll be a kids zone to ensure Splendour’s a real family event.
