Notice Nottingham at mipim 2008

Team Nottingham fly the flag at MIPIM
Nottingham took its strongest delegation ever to international property show MIPIM this week. MIPIM (Marché International des Professionnels de l'Immobilier) in Cannes is widely regarded as the leading global real estate event bringing together over 26,000 key industry decision-makers from around the world. It provided Nottingham companies a platform on which to promote themselves internationally under the city banner. Delegates declared MIPIM a success, saying deals had been struck, networking opportunities had opened up possibilities for further investment and the city had done a great job in promoting itself to the world.

Nottingham's exciting story
Chief Executive of Nottingham City Council, Michael Frater, who led Team Nottingham believes the city had an exciting story to tell MIPIM delegates. He said: "Nottingham's skyline in 2008 is barely recognisable from 15 years ago. That's down to the pace of regeneration that's been taking place across the city.  Nottingham's iconic tram is the city's regeneration success story of this decade and connects many of our most ambitious regeneration projects. We know there is massive potential." The NG2 business park, home to blue chip companies and set to be served by the expanded tram network, was one site showcased to otential investors.

Nottingham's Science City secret is out
Nottingham launched itself as the key emerging UK home for science-based business location and investment at MIPIM.

Designated a Science City, Nottingham has built on the strengths of its leading university research base and pharmaceutical and bioscience innovation to create a science offer matched by few other locations. Delegates heard how Nottingham BioCity, key to recent science growth, is set to expand while £80m of other science developments on the horizon are expected to add 20,000 more science jobs to the current 62,000.

Report says the future’s bright
The Greater Nottingham Conurbation Property Market Activity Report was unveiled by NRL, showing that Nottingham is in a strong position to build its economy. It revealed that Nottingham saw a 5.9% growth in jobs 2000-2005 compared to the UK average of 4.7%. It also showed 27% of graduates from Nottingham's colleges and universities choose to live and work here and that Nottingham is a cheaper location to buy a house (70% of the national average). These facts and some of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration schemes mean Nottingham is ripe for investment.
