An independent survey has plotted positive progress for Nottingham
City Council last year.
The 2007 MORI survey reveals that residents are increasingly
satisfied with the Council, feel that it provides good value for money and good quality services and
keeps them well informed.
Satisfaction with the Council increased from 51%
in 2006 to 56% last year, according to the survey of over 2,300 local residents – especially impressive
given local levels of deprivation and a national trend of little change.
Residents
who think the Council provides good value for money increased from 31% to 39%, those who rate the quality
of services as good rose from 40% to 45%, while 57% of residents now feel well informed, compared to
46% in 2006.
Other key findings include:
- 71%
of residents are satisfied with Nottingham as a place to live, up from 68%, while 70% are satisfied
with their neighbourhoods, up from 66%
- Fewer
people see a range of anti-social behaviour as a problem in their neighbourhood, such as vandalism and
graffiti (down 5% to 35%)
- A
33% reduction, to 32%, of people saying the council should prioritise tackling crime
- An
increase in bus use for leisure and in satisfaction among commuters, with 87% satisfied with the tram
- Ten
percent reduction, to 42%, in people seeing rubbish and litter as a problem and a six percent reduction,
to 20%, in people saying reducing litter should be a priority for the council
Councillor
Eunice Campbell, Portfolio holder for Customer Services, Consultation and Area Working, said: "It
is pleasing to receive such positive feedback from residents and users of our services, giving us confidence
that we have set the right priorities for the council and are getting a lot of things right.
"Key
issues for us and for residents such as tackling anti-social behaviour, investment in local neighbourhoods
and clean streets are all heading in the right direction. The outcomes of the survey will help us continue
in the right direction and shape the services we provide in the future, so that even more people are
even more satisfied with their council."
