Nottingham City Council has placed birthday cards in the Council
House and in Central Library to celebrate Nelson Mandela and the movement he represents.
Nottingham
citizens are welcome to sign the cards as pledges to support democracy, justice, rights and development
for South and Southern Africa.
There is also a display and timeline showing
the achievements of Mandela through the years.
The City Council has also arranged
for a group of school children to get together with a local artist to design their own birthday cards
for Nelson Mandela which will also be displayed in a central location on the 12th July. This is part
of the Intercultural Cities project that Nottingham is taking part in.
Anyone
who would like to sign the cards but can’t get into the city can do so online at www.actsa.org/mandela
