Residents are being invited to nominate local charities that
could benefit from the Lord Mayor of Nottingham’s annual appeal.
Each Lord
Mayor selects up to three
charities to support during the civic year which are announced when the new Lord Mayor is elected to
office in May. Any Nottingham-based charity that works to help Nottingham people could become the local
Lord Mayor’s charity for 2008/09.
Councillor Mohammed Munir, the current
Lord Mayor, selected the Nottinghamshire Leukaemia Appeal and the Maggie’s appeal for a support centre
for cancer patients and their families and friends at City Hospital. So far this year he has raised £7,000 that will be divided between the two organisations.
To
nominate a charity, write to Louise Butler, Lord Mayor’s Secretary, The Council House, Nottingham, NG1
2DT or e-mail louise.butler@nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
