A directory produced by Nottingham City Council to help people access
the wide range of services it provides has won another prestigious national award.
The
Council’s Services Directory won the Gold Award in the A to Z category of the Local Government Association
/ LGcommunications Reputation Awards 2008. Last year, the Directory won Best A to Z in the Chartered
Institute
of Public Relations Local Government Group’s national Excellence in Communications awards.
Judges
described the Directory as setting a new standard for local government A to Zs.
The
handy Directory, delivered directly to the door of nearly 118,000 households along with the Council’s
monthly magazine The Arrow, provides an A-Z list of Council services, complete with full contact details
for each.
Council A-Z Directories are widely regarded as essential Council
publications that are well used and well liked by residents. Using the Directory, Nottingham residents
are able to access over 250 Council services quickly and easily either by phone, in person, online via
the Council’s website or by email.
Cllr Graham Chapman, Deputy Leader of Nottingham
City Council, said: "By producing the Directory and making sure every household in the city receives
a copy through their door, we've tried to make it as easy as possible for residents to get the information
they need about services. We're proud that it has been judged to be the best nationally in two separate
awards."
