Nottingham City Council is proposing to improve pedestrian and cycling
facilities on Top
Valley Way and at its junction with Ridge Way and Top Valley Drive.
As
part of the proposals Nottingham City Council is inviting residents to view more detailed plans of the
changes an exhibition in Tesco, Top Valley from Thursday November 1 – Tuesday November 6.
Residents
will also be able to meet the Project Manager, Lyndsey Morrison, at the Your Choice Your Voice Event
at Top Valley Community Centre on Wednesday November 7 from 6.30pm until 8.30pm and at the Top Valley
Tenants and Residents Association at Top Valley Community Centre on Thursday 15 November from 7.30pm.
The
main aim of the scheme is to get rid of the old and unpopular underground subways at the Top Valley
Way Island and replace them with new surface level crossings around the roundabout.
There
will be a raised zebra crossing on Top Valley Way due to the high number of pedestrians who want to
cross here and normal zebra crossings with speed cushions on Ridge Way and on Top Valley Drive to slow
vehicles and help keep pedestrians safe.
Nottingham City Council also
plans to:
• Fill in the subways and raise the level of pavements around the
island so
that they are level with the road to help pedestrians to feel safer.
•
Install raised
kerbs at the existing bus stops on Top Valley Way and Ridge Way so it is easier for passengers to get
on and off their services.
• Install on-road cycle lanes on
Top Valley Way to connect
to the roundabout and feed into Top Valley Drive and Ridge Way.
•
Resurface the pavements
•
Landscape the area
