Nottingham City Council has produced a new pocket
sized cycle guide
to aid cyclists travelling in the city.
The
Nottingham ‘Guide to Cycle Routes and Facilities’ 2008 will help cyclists plan their journey and show
the best routes, particularly for journeys to work and school/college.
There
will be two maps available, one covering the north of the city and one covering the South, each highlighting
on and off-road cycle routes and cycle parking areas, as well as main destinations such as city and
district centres, secondary schools and universities, leisure centres, green open spaces and waterside
routes. Bike shop locations and their details are included as well as other useful information about
cycling in Nottingham.
Steve Brewer, Sustainable
Transport Officer at Nottingham City Council, said: “Nottingham City Council is committed to improving
conditions for cycling as it is often the quickest, healthiest and cheapest way to get around. We are trying to encourage more people to cycle to work or school by improving cycling parking, making
cycling safer and offering cycle maps as guidelines for a safe and easy journey.”
The
maps are free of charge and are available from bike shops, libraries, leisure centres and other public
buildings. Alternatively email traffic.management@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or
telephone (0115) 91 56221 for a copy.
The maps are
also available to download at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/sitemap/services/transport_and_
streets/cdt_cycling.htm
