Nottingham City Council is carrying out consultation work with
residents in Strelley before improving road safety along Strelley Road between Helston Drive and Drewry
Island in the autumn.
Residents are being invited to have their say
about what they think the problems along the road are and how they would like to see them tackled at
a public consultation event. This event will be held at the Denewood Centre on Denewood Crescent on Thursday 8 May between 12noon
and 8.00pm and Saturday 10 May between 12noon and 6.00pm.
Since
January 2004 there have been 16 road traffic accidents reported to Nottinghamshire that resulted in
personal injury on this particular stretch of Strelley Road. Over half of these accidents involved vulnerable road users, including; pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists
Nottingham
City Council’s Accident Investigation Team has studied the Police reports and have come up with several

the road surface and road markings
- Upgrading and installing new pedestrian crossing
facilities
- Installing cycle facilities along this length
- Upgrading the bus
stops
- Improving the zebra crossing west of Drewry Island so that it is easier for
motorists to see at night
- Altering the traffic signal timings at Bridge Green Walk
to give pedestrians longer time to cross the road.
