Two hundred crime fighters have attended a special
reception at the
Council House in Nottingham in recognition of the contribution they have made to reducing crime in the
city.
Police officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), Community
Protection Officers (CPOs) and non-uniformed officers were all thanked for their efforts by City Council
Leader, Councillor Jon Collins; Assistant Chief Constable, Peter Moyes and the Chief Executive of Nottingham
Crime and Drugs Partnership, Alan Given.
Recently published figures from Nottingham
CDP show a 28%* reduction in crime in the city since 2003/04 and a 13%* reduction in the last year,
while the latest from Nottinghamshire Police show that between 1st April 2007 and 31st March 2008, total
crime in the city fell by nearly 10%**.
Significant reductions have been seen
in most categories of crime:
- Burglary offences have
fallen by 15%
- Violent crime is down by 9%
- Robbery
is down by over 20%
- Theft and handling has fallen by 7%
- Theft
from a motor vehicle is down by 16%.

in Nottingham over the last few years (pictured).
