Nottingham City Council is proud to announce that a further series
of markets have been planned on the city campus of Nottingham Trent University.
Occasional
markets have been taking place on Dryden Street since 2006, but due to popular demand, they will become
regular markets throughout the academic year.
Nottingham City Council has
been working in partnership with Nottingham Trent University to promote the benefits of shopping at
markets situated in the heart of the local community. These local markets provide a cost effective,
healthy and environmentally friendly way for the students and staff at Nottingham Trent University to
shop for those essential and luxury items.
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio
holder for Communities, Leisure and Culture said: "This is a great opportunity
for students and staff at Nottingham Trent University to experience just a taste of the wide range of
goods available on Nottingham’s markets."
Sarah Bustard, Health
Promotion Specialist at Nottingham Trent University said: "We are really pleased
to be working in partnership with the City Council, the vibrancy, convenience and friendly atmosphere
of the markets is an excellent way to promote student and staff wellbeing."
The
first Dryden Street Market will take place on Monday the 13th October from 11am until 4pm and will include
a selection of healthy and tasty food, crafts and fabric from around the world and an award winning
fashion stall. A fruit & veg stall will also be trading throughout the week, serving the student
community with a fresh and varied supply of those vital ingredients for healthy living.
Further
markets will take place on October 20th and November 17th with another four monthly markets due to take
place at the beginning of 2009.
