Get a taste of Parklife at the Forest

Fun in the parkParklife returns to Nottingham this month, with its first event taking place at one of Nottingham’s most historic parks, the Forest Recreation Ground.

The programme, now in its fifth year, is organised by Nottingham City Council and brings a variety of activities to the city's parks and green spaces,

Parklife is a free family fun day based at city parks, bringing together a wide range of local organisations and partners with activities and ideas about how to stay fit and healthy in your area.  Parklife will also give you the opportunity to make decisions about your local neighbourhood.

There will be a variety of exciting activities available such as sports, games, street dance, climbing wall, under 5s and family sessions, art workshops, bouncy castles, youth activities, drumming workshops, salsa dancing, Heart 106 with Heart Al Fresco and interactive health activities.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Communities, said: "Parks and open spaces have huge potential to play an important role in people’s lives, offering a free local resource for play, relaxation and exercise, and these events aim to encourage families and people of all ages to get out, get active and discover what their local park has to offer and find out what’s happening in their local neighbourhood.

"The council, in association with the Partnership Council, Neighbourhood Development and Friends of the Forest will shortly be submitting a bid for funding to regenerate the site and local people can come along and find out about the plans and have their say."

Nottingham’s parks and open spaces are full of interesting things to do throughout the year with a wide variety of sports facilities, children and young people’s areas as well as beautiful scenery in which to relax.
