The World Famous Goose Fair returns to Nottingham this week. The fair opened at 5.30pm on Wednesday 1st October with more than 500 attractions - from the latest
white
knuckle rides for thrill seekers to the ever-popular family, children’s and old-time rides.
Goose
Fair is one of Europe’s largest travelling fairs with a history that dates back more than 700 years. Amongst the array of Roller Coasters, Water Rides, Giant Wheels, Bombers, Dodgems, Twists, Waltzers
and Miamis familiar to Goose Fair there will be a number of new attractions that have not visited Nottingham
before.
The ‘Spiderman’ ride has been in the country for less than twelve months and
will making its first appearance at Goose Fair. Whilst the ‘Over the Top’ ride has been a well established attraction in the north of England for a
number of years, it also will be making its first visit to the Fair. These unique rides will offer an amazing experience.
There will also be plenty
for those who enjoy more traditional fairground rides, including the
ever-popular Gallopers, with their old time organ music, and the return of the spectacular Wall
of Death show.
Councillor Dave Trimble, Nottingham City Council Portfolio Holder
for Communities, Leisure and Culture, said: “Goose Fair has been a much-loved part of
Nottingham life for hundreds of years and it remains a highlight on the city’s calendar. This year we’re proud to present new rides to the region and the UK alongside the old favourites so
that everyone can look forward to a great day out.”
The layout provides
visitors with wide aisles and space to circulate around the fair and enjoy all the attractions on offer. There will also be a wide variety of gift and novelty stalls and numerous side shows. Visitors will
be able to buy food from around the world – including Nottingham’s own speciality, mushy peas and mint
sauce.
