Nottingham’s top gardeners were honoured last
night when results of
the Nottingham in Bloom Garden Competition were announced at a presentation evening at the Council House.
Around 300 entrants competed in this year’s competition, from local
communities and businesses to students and schools.
All 13 categories
were sponsored by local businesses, and representatives joined Councillor Malcolm Wood, the Chair of
the Nottingham in Bloom Working Group, to present prizes.
Councillor Wood said:
“This event is a highlight of our calendar every year when we congratulate people across
the city who have made huge efforts to brighten up their own area. We received a record number
of entries in the garden competition this year and the judges have commented on the many inspiring gardens
and community projects they have visited and the enthusiasm of those involved.”
The
garden competition was an important element in Nottingham’s victory as ‘Champion of Champions’ in the
East Midlands in Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions this year.
