New family gallery opens at Nottingham Castle

Young children are discovering a magical world of ocean treasures at Nottingham Castle!

Beyond the Sea is the site’s newly refurbished family gallery, created specifically for 3-8 year olds. Children and their grown-ups can experience scenes of tranquil and stormy seas, sandy and stony beaches and discover creatures that live deep below the water. Ocean sounds fill the room and interactive rock pools await inquisitive minds.

Featuring examples of Nottingham City Museums Fine Art, Decorative Art and Natural History collections, this stunning gallery provides a unique opportunity for children to interact with some of Nottingham’s wonderful art treasures.

Catherine Daunt, Assistant Exhibitions Officer said: "The family gallery is a wonderful space. It gives even the youngest family members the chance to experience the beauty of art in a fun and entertaining way."

Beyond the Sea is suitable for children aged 3-8years who must be accompanied by an adult. The gallery is open during normal Nottingham Castle opening hours of 10am-5pm (March – October) or 10am-4pm (November – February). Entry is included within the normal museum admission price of £3.50 per adult, £2 per child/concession or £8 for a family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children)

Nottingham city residents and those who work in the city qualify for free admission Monday – Friday. Proof of status (such as a library card, Citycard or letterhead from employee confirming employment) is required for entry. Excludes Bank Holidays and special events.
