A clinic to provide stop smoking support to employees
working in the
Nottingham City area was launched this week.
The new clinic being
held at Central Library, on Angel Row started on 19th May and will run every Monday for 6-8 weeks
on an appointment system between 10am and 2pm.
The
Tobacco Control Team is part of Nottingham City Council working primarily to reduce smoking prevalence
within Nottingham City.
One of the team’s focuses
is to provide stop smoking support for employees within the Nottingham City area. This is achieved by
delivering stop smoking clinics within workplaces, run by a specialist stop smoking advisor. Clinics
run on a weekly basis lasting 6-8 weeks, with each clinic session offering motivational support and
advice, Nicotine Replacement Therapy and Carbon Monoxide monitoring.
The
clinics support workplaces since the change in smoking legislation and form part of a wider package
of support offered to businesses from our team through Gold Standard Smoking Policies.
Rachel
Lewis, Stop Smoking Advisor said: "Evaluations of clinics already running across
Nottingham have been extremely positive, mostly due to the flexibility of the clinics to accommodate
the needs of both employers and employees. The new clinic is the only clinic in Nottingham City that
is open to employees from surrounding businesses."
Although aimed
primarily at employees working in Nottingham City, members of the public wishing to access the clinic
will also be accommodated. Anyone wanting to book an appointment can contact Rachel Lewis, Stop Smoking
Advisor on 07939542408.
