What care will Britain’s ‘baby boomers’ want in
the next 10
to 20 years? Nottingham residents in their early Sixties have the chance to play a key role in developing the blue
print for Britain’s care services in the future.
Nottingham City Council
is
looking for 100 residents aged between 60 and 65 to help put together the care services people will
expect in the 2020s. The Council is working with Oxford Brookes University who are carrying out the research project, called
Anticipating Future Need, to help shape local and national policies and provision for the future, both
in the public sector and independent private care providers.
More people will
expect to stay in their own homes for as long as possible and they and their families will want more
choice, more flexibility and more control over the care services they receive.
Phil
Teall, of Nottingham City Council’s Adult Services, Housing and Health, said:“We need people aged between
60 and 65 to join a series of focus group later this month. We are looking for residents who do not receive home care, day care, residential or nursing care or
meals on wheels.
The focus groups will be held on 20 June and 21 June at the
New Mechanics Institute from 1.30pm and 4.30pm. Anyone interested in taking part should call 0115 915 7047 to find out more.
