Nottingham City Council is working in partnership
with the Metro newspaper to clear up part of the city centre on Tuesday March 18
Staff
from Nottingham City Council’s Envirocrime and Public Health Teams and representatives from the Metro
will be tackling the area under the tram route over Canal Street which has been disused for some time.
The clean up is part of the City Council’s Big Spring Clean campaign which
runs throughout the city until March 28 and aims to demonstrate what can be achieved when schools, businesses,
students, and local communities come together with the joint aim of making the city a cleaner place
for everyone.
The group will meet at 9.30am to litter pick the land until midday.
Councillor
Katrina Bull, Portfolio Holder for Environmental and Climate Change, Nottingham City Council said: The
land is clearly visible to users of the trams and any pedestrians walking into the centre of town from
the train station, which in its current state gives a poor impression of Nottingham to visitors and
residents alike.
