A Hyson Green resident has paid the price for
dropping litter in the city.
Marcain Bolowiec of Stanley Road, Nottingham,
was caught dropping a cigarette on Laurie Avenue in Hyson Green on 1st May 2008.
Nottingham
Magistrate’s Court found Mr Bolowiec guilty in his absence on 12 November and fined him £525 with costs
of £161 (legal) and £68.66 (investigation.) He was also made to pay £15 victim surcharge.
As
Mr Bolowiec failed to attend court and was not represented no evidence was submitted about his means
and the order above was made.
The monies are
to be paid within 14 days, and a Collection Order was made.
Cllr
Katrina Bull, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Climate Change at Nottingham City Council said: “It
is unfortunate that we had to go down this route but we are very pleased with the outcome of the hearing.
This is another clear message from Nottingham City Council that we will not tolerate unnecessary littering
of any kind and those members of the public who continue to flout these rules and are caught will find
themselves with an on the spot fine or worse being taken to court.”
