The Nottingham in Bloom team is calling on residents,
community groups and businesses across the city to help them make the Arboretum bloom by planting 2,000
more shrubs.
As part of Nottingham City Council’s Big Spring Clean campaign,
which aims to make the city a cleaner and greener place for everyone, the team along with the Friends
of the Arboretum are brightening up the park by planting shrubs including Camellias, Azaleas and Hellebores.
The
first planting session is on Wednesday March 19 and it is hoped volunteers will give a few hours out
of their day to help the team in Nottingham’s much-loved oldest public park.
Any
volunteers wishing to help should meet at Waverley Lodge in the Arboretum at 10am. Planting will be continuing until about 3pm.
Nottingham City Council Parks
Development Officer Fliss Walker said: Last year volunteers from business and the community planted
nearly 3,000 new shrubs at the Arboretum. We hope the planting days this year will be just as successful, and we look forward to seeing anyone
who wants to help.
Volunteers are also needed for two more shrub planting
sessions at the Arboretum – 10am until 1pm on Wednesday March 26th, and 10am to 3pm on Sunday March
30th. For more information, contact Fliss Walker on 0115 915 2709.
