Residents in Clifton and the surrounding area
are being invited to a community ‘Big Spring Clean’ which is taking place at Fairham Brook, Clifton
and surrounding pathways.
The clean up will take place on Thursday March
13 and any residents wishing to come along should meet at Silverdale Community Centre at 1.30pm.
The
group will be lead by the newly appointed Neighbourhood Action Officers in the Clifton and Wilford Neighbourhood
Management Team who will be joined by some local young people from Farnborough School and the local
Community Protection Officers.
Equipment for the litter pick such as litter
pickers, gloves and bags will be provided and there will be tea and cakes in the community centre afterwards
to thank everyone for their hard work.
The clean up is part of the City Council’s
Big Spring Clean campaign which runs throughout the city until March 28 and aims to demonstrate what
can be achieved when schools, businesses, students, and local communities come together with the joint
aim of making the city a cleaner place for everyone.
Neighbourhood Action Officer,
Don Bulmer, said: "These events are a great way to build community spirit in the neighbourhood
and an active commitment towards looking after the local environment. Refreshments will be provided in the Silverdale Community Centre afterwards and gives residents the
opportunity to discuss further what the key issues in the local neighbourhood are with the Neighbourhood
Management Team.”
