Volunteers from Speedo will spring clean around the lake and water
cascade at Highfields Park on Monday to kick off the park’s Week of Action.
Eleven
volunteers will help Nottingham City Council staff to spruce up around the lake by litter picking and
removing overgrown plants.
The clean-up day is part of the Highfields Park
Week of Action which will focus on a whole range of environmental activities to help improve the park
including clean ups, litter picks, pruning shrubs, cleaning the lake and planting up the historic Long
Borders as part of the Nottingham in Bloom campaign.
Speedo's Co-President,
Andy Long, says: As a locally-based business, we at Speedo are delighted to contribute to the Nottingham
in Bloom campaign at Highfields Park. Enhancing the local environment for the community and local wildlife
and enjoying our natural local surroundings is something we take great pride in and we are looking forward
to participating."
Members of the public are also welcome to get involved
by joining a Volunteer Clean Up Day at Highfields Park on Tuesday May 20 starting at 12.30pm from the
Lakeside Pavilion. There will be refreshments for all volunteers from 3pm onwards. Anyone interested in taking part should telephone Nottingham City Council on 0115 9155707 or email:
