Nottingham residents are to get a chance to choose how £1000 is spent
in their local area.
The ‘Grab a Grand’ campaign sees £1,000 made available
to each of the nine Area Committees across Nottingham – and it will be up to local people to decide
what it is spent on.
Between Monday 29th September and Friday 10th October,
ideas are being sought through a Freepost suggestion form in the October issue of the Arrow which goes
to all households in the city or online at:www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/grabagrand
Area
Management Teams and local councillors will then shortlist the suggestions down to three per area –
followed by a chance for residents to vote for their favourite, between Monday 20th October and Wednesday
29th October, online or by filling out a Freepost form available in local outlets. Winners will be announced
on Friday 31st October and action taken to put the ideas into practice.

Holder for Area Working, Councillor Jane Urquhart, said: "We want people to come
forward with plans that will make a difference to their neighbourhood. The Grab a Grand scheme is an extension of the important neighbourhood work that’s already underway
and will hopefully help people to get involved in other decisions that affect the places where they
live."
Nottingham City Council’s Neighbourhood Management teams,
along with a number of close partner organisations, work to ensure that every neighbourhood in the city
is a great place to live. They recognise though, that residents know better than anyone, what they want, when it needs to be done
and how. There are many ways in which local residents are given the opportunity to make decisions about their
local neighbourhood to help improve the services in their area. For more information log on t o: www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk
