Four Nottingham Schools are getting ready to see a lot of hard work go up in smoke. Pupils at Bentinck School, Mellers School, The Islamia School and Berridge Junior School are each building
a guy for the top of the bonfire at the Forest Recreation Ground on November 5.
The pupils with the best guy will receive a cup
and tickets for the fairground at the City Council's Bonfire Night celebrations at The Forest site,
to be presented by Nottingham Lord Mayor Councillor Gul Nawaz Khan on November 3. All four guys will help set the annual bonfire on the Forest Rec ablaze.
The
four schools, are in the Neighbourhood Development Company (NDC) area and were invited to build the
guys by Nottingham City Council Street Scene and NDC. The cup and tickets have been donated by James Mellors of James Mellors Amusements who are providing
the fairground rides as part of the November 5 event and items for the guys have been provided by the
Nottinghamshire Royal Society for the Blind Shop on Ortzen Street, off Peveril Street, Radford.
On
November 5 the funfair on The Forest Recreation Ground opens at 5.30pm until 10.30pm. The children's firework display is at 7.15pm and the bonfire will be lit at 7.45pm. The main firework display starts at 9pm.
