Vulnerable children in Nottingham will get some great gifts
this Christmas thanks to the generosity of Nottingham workers.
Staff at some
of the city's largest companies have bought and delivered 800 gifts to Nottingham City Council for children
and young people with whom the Council works closely or who are in danger of missing out this Christmas
because of family circumstances.
The employees at
Eon, Captial One, the Rutland Square Hotel, Welcome Finance, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Ernst and Young,
Thompson Reuters, HBoS, Nottingham Trent University, and staff and customers at Gala Bingo bought the
gifts and co-ordinated their collections.
The presents have been delivered to Nottingham City
Council and passed on to each child and young person.
Councillor David Mellen, Nottingham City Council's
Portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: "The kindness and generosity of so many people in Nottingham means that children and young people
who face very difficult and challenging circumstances this Christmas will have the pleasure of opening
their own special presents, a treat that most of us take for granted on Christmas Day.
"Their kindness helps families who are most in need in the City and on
behalf of the City Council I would like to thank them all for their kindness and for giving so generously
and proving once again that Nottingham is a city that cares."
