Winning bands rock Old Market Square

The two winners of Nottingham Bands In the Sand festival this year have played in the Old Market Square. They are The Chase, winners of the 11-15 age group, and Within These Words, winners of the 15 to 19 category.

They battled it out with other teenage bands for the top musical spot in the city in annual Bands In The Sand Festival at the Sandfield Theatre..

Bands In The Sand, organised by Nottingham City Council is now in its fifth year and showcases bands from Nottingham City Schools and Nottingham Music School. The winning bands from the 11-15 and the 15-18 age group played on the big stage at Light Night in Nottingham Market Square on Friday, February 8. Other prizes included a weekend’s recording at a local studio.

Bands In The Sand is a great way to check out Nottingham’s young stars of the future. Previous winners have gone on to firmly establish themselves as part of the Nottingham music scene – so who needs the X-factor when we have Bands In The Sand?

Bands in the Sand Festival 2008 took place on Wednesday 6th February (11-15 age group) and Thursday 7th February (15 – 18 age group) at The Sandfield Theatre, Sandfield Road, Lenton.
