Nottingham City Council is calling on City based organisations to
take part in a pilot study to help them promote sustainable travel choices for their staff and to reduce
dependency on cars and car parking.
In advance of the introduction of
the proposed Workplace Parking Levy (WPL) scheme in 2010, Nottingham City Council has approved financial
assistance for City based organisations wishing to develop smarter choices and reduce the demand for
parking spaces at their worksite.
The City Council wants applicants to submit
their interest in becoming one of the pilot studies and take advantage of the advice and support with
managing staff and business travel which is on offer.
Funding awards of up
to £10,000* are available in 2008/9 for WPL liable organisations to pilot approaches to travel planning
and promotion of sustainable travel choices, including promotion of public transport information and
personal journey planning services. * In exceptional circumstances awards of up to £20,000
will be considered.
The City Council is now seeking expressions of interest
from up to five organisations to participate in this year’s pilot programme.
To
register interest or request an application, please contact Matthew Price at Nottingham City Council
on 0115 9155462 or email matthew.price@nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
Closing
date for applications is Tuesday 30th September 2008.
