The countdown to Nottingham’s Retail Vision has begun with the launch
of the Strategic Plan for Retail and Leisure.
The plan, which is the
first of its kind, outlines a vision of Nottingham retail today and in future years to come. It addresses future demands, predicted trends, labour market and consumer patterns in Nottingham.
Nottingham
is keen to maintain its position in an increasingly competitive marketplace by responding to the short,
medium and long term aspirations for the city. The research and analysis that underpins the plan has
been sourced from many specialist areas, and four strategic action plans have been developed that focus
on the following areas:
- Inward Investment and Marketing To support
and drive appropriate retail development
- Improving the Retail Offer Strengthening
Nottingham’s retail offer
- Connecting the City’s Retail Offer Easing access for consumers
and businesses
- Skills and Employment Extensive plans for training and development
Jane
Dykes, City Centre Manager, said: “Key partners have come together to develop and deliver this plan
and have identified their vision for the future of Nottingham as a vital player in the UK’s retailing
economy. The successful delivery of this plan will mark the revival and sustainability of Nottingham’s
strong retail market and support the continued prosperity of the City and the East Midlands Region.
“The
centre of Nottingham is flourishing, and can stand up and be counted as one of the UK’s prime retail
destinations. The successful delivery of this strategic plan over the next five years will ensure that
our city continues to prosper.”
