Students and teachers at Nottingham City secondary schools are
celebrating excellent A level results once again this year. Overall, the percentage pass rate of 97.7%,
matching last year’s figure, remains above the national average of 97.2%.
Two
schools, Greenwood Dale and Trinity, have exceeded this year’s national pass rate, Greenwood Dale for
the third year running. At Greenwood Dale, 98.5% of students achieved A - E grades while at Trinity
the pass rate was similar at 98.6%.
The proportion
of Nottingham students achieving A grades slipped very slightly from 21.6% to 21.4% of entries this
year. Performance at Trinity increased by over 1 percentage point (twice the national rate) to over
30% of A grade passes with Bluecoat also showing a 0.5 percentage points increase in top grades. At
Greenwood Dale, there was small fall following last year’s 4.4% rise in A grades, still well above the
2006 figures.
A to C grades increased at Greenwood Dale by 2 percentage points but A to
C performance at Bluecoat and Trinity was lower than last year.
Nottingham
City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, Councillor David Mellen, said: "We would
like to congratulate pupils in Nottingham on the excellent A level and AS level results this year which
have remained stable and above the national average. We would like to thank pupils, their parents and
carers, teaching staff and governors for all their hard work and wish all these young people future
success whether they choose to go onto university, access training opportunities or commence employment."
