COBRA (or Complete Business Resource Advisor) is an online resource packed with information about setting up in business. It includes:
- Factsheets on a wide range of business ideas
- Information about legal considerations and insurance
- Signposting to regulatory bodies and sources of business support
- Information about trade events and key organisations in each sector
- News and trend reports for different sectors
- Local area profiles
Access it in the library or at home. (City library card needed for remote access).
Our delivery partners
The Creative Quarter is one of the delivery partners for the Big House Programme, supporting creative and digital businesses across Nottingham and Derby. We host introductions to the project and one-off workshops such as digital marketing.
D2N2 Growth Hub supports business growth across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The Nottingham team run weekly surgeries and one-off workshops on a range of topics.
Inovra Group is a business consultancy, serving small and medium businesses with focus on the implementation of best practices. They run a workshop on ISO 9001 Quality Accreditation in the Centre once a quarter.
A toolkit developed by the University of Nottingham and local entrepreneurs to help women feel confident about their way of being an entrepreneur. We have a monthly Meetup in the Centre based on the themes covered in the toolkit and hosted by its creators.
Potter Clarkson are Intellectual Property specialists based in Nottingham City centre, able to advise on patents, trademarks, copyright, how to protect your ideas and how to stop someone else using them! The IP Clinic runs on the first Tuesday of the month.
The Prince’s Trust run an Enterprise programme supporting young people aged 18-30 in exploring self employment and gaining the tools and knowledge to run a successful business.
Smorgasbord helps people who want to start or grow a business. They can help people get funding for their idea or new business as well as providing mentoring and a variety of other advice and services for people with a business idea, or a business that is new or needs advice on next steps. They run a surgery on Wednesday mornings.

The FSB is a membership organisation providing advice, financial expertise and support for small businesses and a regular programme of events across the region.

Ingenuity is the University of Nottingham’s local business network, offering events and networking to businesses interested in connecting with the university and a directory of local businesses.
