Making a cleaner and greener city
Nottingham in Bloom is an exciting initiative designed to make our city a cleaner and greener place to live, work and visit. This year we are proud to have won three awards in the national Britain in Bloom competition.
Over the years we have built up an exceptional
record, winning the East Midlands in Bloom title 17 times and taking the Britain
in Bloom national award for Best Large City four times - in 1997, 2001 2003 and 2007. We were
also judged the best in Europe in 1998, when we were proud to receive the Entente
Florale Gold Award.
Each year the Bloom ethos becomes more deeply rooted within the city, and so the standard is improved still further. There has been a new emphasis in the past few years on year-round initiatives involving a multitude of partners, community groups, schools, sponsors and other organisations who are making a real difference to their own neighbourhood. Each week we receive calls from new groups who are keen to become involved.
