Forced Marriage for people who have contact with children, young people and families

Please note that the course is aimed at raising awareness of Forced Marriage and does not replace specialist face-to-face training

The government’s Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) has developed a new forced marriage e-learning package for professionals. The modules aim to enable professionals to recognise the warning signs of forced marriage and ensure that the appropriate action is taken to help protect and support all those at risk.  You will need to access the course with a computer with sound activated.

Children’s Attachment

NICE has developed this e-learning on children’s attachment.  The e-learning aims to support practitioners to better understand attachment, the causes of attachment difficulties, how to recognise the signs of attachment difficulties and how to support children and families affected by attachment difficulties.

Information Sharing

This presentation/ training course is based on HM Government Information Sharing Guidance for Practitioners and Managers and has been developed in partnership with Barnardo’s.  This course will help you to understand when and how information can be shared legally and professionally, in order to achieve improved outcomes.

The guidance is for everyone that works with children, young people and families whether they are employed or volunteers, in the public, private or voluntary sectors. It is for staff working in health, education, schools, social care, youth work, early years, family support, offending and criminal justice, police, advisory & support services, culture & leisure.

This course is designed to provide you with a basic awareness of self-harm. Although the course is primarily aimed at parents it is also suitable for professionals who want to gain a better understanding of what self-harm is, why young people do it and how to best support them.

Safer Sleep for Babies

Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Board and Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board have developed the Safer Sleeping Risk Assessment Tool to support practitioners to identify if parents or carers are putting a baby to sleep in an unsafe way.

A self-directed learning session has also been developed to help practitioners learn about:

  • what guidance to give carers to ensure they are putting babies to sleep safely
  • Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
  • the risk factors for SIDS

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018

The Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Board have developed a self-directed learning session on the statutory guidance 'Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018' to support practitioners in their understanding of how they need to work with other agencies to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
