European Election Results 2004

For the purpose of European elections Nottingham City joins with many other neighbouring councils to form the East Midlands Region.

The region stretches from the Lincolnshire coast to the Peak District in Derbyshire and south to Northamptonshire and is served by six MEPs (Members of the European Parliament). The last European elections were in 2004 and were conducted entirely by postal vote. The electorate voted for their preferred party rather than individual candidates. Each party had a list of candidates and their share of the votes determined how many of their candidates went on to be MEPs.
