Cycling in Nottingham

Find out about what information and support there is about cycling in Nottingham and other initiatives.

Cycling

Nottingham's new Cycle map is now available

Nottingham City Council's new cycle map is now available. Free copies can be collected from a variety of locations including libraries, leisure centres and the Tourism Information Office. We would also be happy to send you one out - please email transport.strategy@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or call 0115 876 3942 with your details.

In addition to the map on its reverse you will find a City Centre insert, a Big Track map and an Erewash Valley Trail map.

Download the pdf icon Nottingham Cycle Map [10Mb]. Please note this is a large file and may take a few minutes to load.

We hope you find the new style map to be useful. Please feel free to send any comments with regards to what you would like to see on future editions and we would be happy to consider them.

Nottingham City Council is committed to improving conditions for cycling by improving infrastructure (including cycle parking), making cycling safer, marketing and promoting cycling (through the two cycle maps), and stakeholder engagement with organisations such as 'Pedals'

Nottingham has a population of 274,000 with 45% of this population without access to a car. 23% of the population owns a bike however only 3.1% of these people use their bike to cycle to work. There is therefore real potential to increase the levels of cycling in Nottingham.

Nottingham Cycle Journey Planner

Nottingham is the latest partner in the Department for Transport's Transport Direct cycle journey planner. In a similar way to urban walking planner, www.walkit.com, the cycle journey planner allows bespoke journeys in selected areas of the country to be plotted online - you can even tailor your journey so you pick the quietest or quickest route. Partners in the initiative include Cycling England, Ordnance Survey and the local authorities.

Visit the Cycle Journey Planner on Transport Direct's website.

Nottingham City Council is updating the cycle maps and these will be available soon.
