Entertain the kids for as little as 50p a day this October half term!
Nottingham City Council is encouraging children and young people to stay active over the October half term break by offering a variety of activities for just 50p a day.
Activities include outdoor gym sessions, dodgeball, music and videos, crafts and games, basketball and badminton.
Between 26 – 30 October, 8 – 15 year olds will be able to enjoy these fantastic sessions at the following City Council leisure centres: Clifton Leisure Centre (Clifton), John Carroll Leisure Centre (Radford), Noel Street Leisure Centre (New Basford), Beechdale Swimming Centre and Harvey Hadden Sports Complex (Bilborough), Portland Leisure Centre (The Meadows) and Southglade Leisure Centre (Bestwood).
Activities will take place between 9am and 5pm each weekday, and those wishing to take part should just turn up on the day. Please note places are limited.
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Leisure and Culture, said: "We initially ran this 50p offer in the summer holidays when it proved hugely popular and attracted over 5,400 children, we're now hoping to repeat this success in the October half term. We're always striving to encourage children and young people to stay active and take-up new physical activities, sports and interests, so we hope these activities make staying active as fun, affordable and convenient as possible."
The City Council is also providing a range of great value sports coaching courses for children and young people over the October half term. There are a wide variety of sports to choose from including athletics, swimming, scuba, snorkelling, football, tennis, street dance and trampolining. Course lengths vary, and range between 2 – 5 days with prices starting from as little as £2.85 a session.
Plus there will be the usual offer of FREE swimming for those aged 16 and under (or 60 and over) at Nottingham City Council pools during general sessions. Free swimming proved hugely popular during July and August with over 19,600 swimming sessions being enjoyed by those aged 16 years and under in Nottingham City Council pools.
Further information and full activity timetables are available at www.mynottingham.gov.uk/50p or www.mynottingham.gov.uk/sportscoaching or by calling 0115 915 2470.
