Creative Winner to shine at New Art Exchange

A past winner from the Nottingham Creative Business Awards is to display a video commission at the New Art Exchange in Hyson Green.

Hetain Patel

Hetain Patel was nominated for the award in 2008 by Lakeside Arts Centre in the Visual Arts category. He went on to win this category and was the overall winner of the Nottingham Creative Business of the Year award.

Hetain will present a new audio-visual experience to coincide with the debut of a new live art piece co-commissioned by New Art Exchange and taking place during nottdance09.

The New Art Exchange will be premiering this new video installation in the Mezzanine Gallery from 26th September 2009, which is a newly commissioned multi-screen installation. This is a piece in conjunction with Patel's live art performance as part of the Dance 4's Nott Dance at Lakeside Arts Centre on Sunday 25th October. Hetain has also been shortlisted for Artists Taking the Lead which could see him making a £500,000 art piece here in Nottingham.

Hetain has been recognised nationally and internationally and is a shining example of the creative individuals and businesses that Nottingham has to offer. Since the awards Hetain has been showing work and performing in China, India and Romania.

Nottingham is a hotbed of globally influential talent and the Nottingham Creative Business Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the successes achieved by businesses and individuals working in the city's creative industries and enhance Nottingham's profile as a creative city of national and international importance.

David Robinson, Chairman of this year's awards and President of Speedo International, said: "Creative individuals such as Hetain are a great asset to Nottingham and we are proud that the international recognition many of them have is helping to put Nottingham on the creative map and be recognised as a highly credible cultural capital."

"This year's awards will again provide us with the opportunity to show the world how much excellent creative and innovative work is going on around the city and are a great tribute to all the established and emerging creative individuals and businesses our exciting city has."

The Nottingham Creative Business Awards 2009 ceremony will be held on Wednesday 7th October at The Council House.
