School Organisation in Nottingham

There are a range of factors which require the City Council to maintain an overview of the number and type of school places required in the city.

Who are we?

The School Organisation team is responsible for ensuring the City has the correct number and type of school places.

Why is this important?

Historically there has been a declining birth rate, but there is evidence that this is now rising again and other factors such as an increase in inward migration to the city has seen an increase in the number of children requiring school places in certain parts of the city.

What do we do?

The School Organisation team has been undertaking a series of primary school reviews across the city, removing surplus places where appropriate, but now also looking at increasing capacity where required. This is to support increased parental choice and providing diversity of school types. We use a variety of data sources to develop our understanding of the provision we will need now and in the future.
