Renewal of secondary and special schools

Nottingham City Council is renewing secondary and special school facilities and transforming education.

Nottingham City Council has received over £200 million of funding from the Government which will be invested in some of Nottingham's secondary and special schools.

The funding will provide 21st century learning environments and an ICT Managed Service that engage and inspire young people, their teachers and the wider community.

The following schools have been completed, representing an investment of approximately £38 million:

  • Oak Field School and Sports College;
  • Hadden Park High School; and
  • Big Wood School and Enterprise College.

The following schools are currently under construction, representing an investment of approximately £111 million:

  • The Bulwell Academy - due for completion in September 2010.
  • Nottingham University Samworth Academy - due for completion in September 2010.
  • Rosehill Special School - due for completion in April 2011.
  • Nottingham Academy - two of the three sites are due for completion in September 2011.

The following schools, which represent a value of approximately £43 million, are also planned to be rebuilt or remodelled:

  • Ellis Guilford School and Sports College;
  • Nethergate Special School;
  • Bluecoat School and Technology College ; and
  • Farnborough School Technology College.

All the new schools are being delivered by Nottingham's award-winning Local Education Partnership (LEP) which is a public private partnership between Nottingham City Council,  inspiredspaces and Building Schools for the Future. inspiredspaces is a consortium which brings together Carillion as construction and facilities management services provider, with Capita who provide ICT expertise.
