The Bishop Review: The Future of Design in the Built Environment
In April 2011 the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) merged with The Design Council.
Peter Bishop was engaged by The Design Council and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to consider how CABE could be effective within The Design Council in promoting good design in the built environment.
This lecture will examine the findings of the Bishop Review, published in October 2011. Highlighting how the Government can be advised in order to stimulate a national design debate.
Peter will also discuss his latest research, ‘The Temporary City’, where he explored the growing interest among practitioners in the development of ‘pop-up’ or ‘meanwhile’ uses for land and buildings in our urban areas.
