Bus laneBus Lanes

Bus priorities such as bus lanes and bus gates, help buses get through traffic lights and to the front of queuing traffic, speeding up their journey into and out of Nottingham, making bus travel a more viable option to the car.

Enforcement of bus lanes

Nottingham has over 20km of bus lanes, including throughout the City Centre and has become the first authority in the country to use the latest digital recording technology to catch illegal bus lane users in the act.   There are no exceptions, the law applies to cars, motorbikes, scooters and licensed taxis.

The enforcement of bus lanes enables us to keep bus stops accessible to the elderly, buggie and wheelchair users.
