Making a complaint about unsafe and poor working conditions

The Health and Safety Enforcement Team investigates complaints from both the general public and employees regarding unsafe or poor working conditions in the City of Nottingham. See below for the various ways to make a complaint.

Making a complaint

The Health and Safety Enforcement Team receives numerous complaints each year concerning health and safety in the workplace or unsafe conditions. Many of the complaints are from employees who are experiencing health and safety problems in their workplace and are seeking advice on employers' legal requirements and how the problem might be dealt with without them being identified.

We aim to investigate all complaints within 5 working days from receipt of the complaint. Complaints are investigated and action taken appropriate to the circumstances, many are settled through advice and information. In some cases formal action may be considered.
