Our International Strategy

In partnership and consultation with Nottingham's key business, cultural and educational bodies, Nottingham City Council has developed an International Strategy.

The purpose of the strategy is to shape and drive forward the city's international work up to 2011. Its focus is not only the work of Nottingham City Council, but also that of all partners in the conurbation working within the international sphere.

Vision

Our shared vision is for a Nottingham as an international city of distinction; highly respected as a centre for culture, education and enterprise, whose citizens not only have global ambitions but also have the opportunities to realise them.

Purpose of the strategy

The purpose of the International Strategy is to recognise the breadth of international activity currently underway in Nottingham and to identify future key priorities for action. The strategy is not intended to be an in depth plan for delivery on each element, but rather a strategic overview for all partners of the future direction for Nottingham's international work. More detailed annual action plans have been developed to support the delivery of the strategy's priorities.

Four priority themes

Nottingham's International Strategy sets out future priorities under four broad themes:

  • Business
  • Education and Young People
  • Culture and Sport
  • Profile and Links

Review and evaluation

The strategy will be a constantly evolving document, with a review and evaluation of performance and achievements on the strategy's key indicators being undertaken on an annual basis.
