Health and Safety Enforcement

We are responsible for enforcement of health and safety legislation in most service and retail premises within Nottingham City. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) enforces health and safety legislation in premises such as factories.

Who enforces Health & Safety in your premises? Health and safety enforcement is split between two authorities. The City Council's Health and Safety Enforcement Team and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Here you will be able to find out Who enforces Health and safety Law. We have information about when an inspector calls at your workplace as inspectors have the right to enter any workplace without giving notice, though notice may be given where the inspector thinks it is appropriate.
