Consumer information

All Nottingham City Libraries have a wide range of information to help with consumer enquiries including books on consumer issues, Which? Reports and electronic information e.g. Advisernet (the on-line National Citizens Advice Bureau information service).

Direct.gov
The Government's main source for public information, Direct.gov has a section on consumer matters which contains information and advice as well as links to other sources of information such as the Community Legal Advice Servicewhich offers free information and access to a Directory listing local providers of legal information.

Nottingham and District Citizens Advice Bureau
Nottingham CAB provides free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and information on a wide range of subjects, including: housing, debt and employment. The website provides links to the national Citizens Advice Bureau service.

Nottingham City Council Trading Standards 
The Trading Standards service works to protect the public from unfair and unsafe trading practices. They enforce a wide range of criminal laws which protect consumers and honest businesses, and give advice to consumers who have problems with goods or services they have bought.

Nottingham City Council Welfare Rights Service  
Advice on welfare benefits, housing, employment and debt. Most advice sessions are available at certain days or times at different locations in the community and may be by appointment only. Tel. 0115 915 1355

Nottingham Law Centre 
Offers free legal advice and assistance with benefits, debt and housing problems issues. All advice is by appointment only.

UK European Consumer Centre:
Hosted by the Trading Standards Institute, the UK ECC is part of the European Consumer Centre Network, made up of 29 centres throughout Europe. The aim is to provide advice and support to consumers who are shopping cross-border within the internal market of the European Union. Tel 08456 04 05 03

Which? has reports and information for consumers about a wide range of products and services.
