Due to work being carried out in the Central Library to improve the facilities on offer for visitors, and welcome additional staff into the building, the Local Studies Library on the Floor 4 will be closed temporarily from Monday 2^nd August.

A limited family history service will be available on Floor 3 until the Local Studies Library reopens in a brand new facility on Floor 1 in October.

The collection has information about the City of Nottingham specifically, and the County of Nottinghamshire generally.

In addition to the materials highlighted below, the collection includes one copy of virtually every book written about Nottinghamshire people, places and subjects.

Accessing the material

The main Local Studies Collection is housed in a separate area of the 4th Floor, accessible to staff only. A small collection of materials for loan is available, but most of the stock is for use in the library only. Please ask staff at the Enquiry Desk for help in finding what you want.
