Dog Warden Service
The Dog Warden Service offers assistance relating to stray dogs, dog fouling, dangerous dogs, dogs on school grounds or general advice.
The biggest area of the team's work is collecting stray dogs picked up by members of the public or spotted on the street during patrols.
The service is part of Community Protection. Several teams within the service have involvement with dogs and they act together to ensure that dogs and dog owners do not cause a nuisance to others.
The Dog Control Officers carry out the first visits when there is a complaint about a barking dog and they can offer advice to dog owners to help them to live peacefully with their neighbours.
