AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS

NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS

AUDIT COMMISSION ACT 1998 - SECTION 15 AND 16 ACCOUNTS AND AUDIT REGULATIONS 2011 REGULATIONS 9, 10, 22 AND 24

Council accounts open for inspection

The Council's accounts for the financial year ending on 31 March 2011 will be open for public inspection from 1 August to 26 August.

If you would like to view the accounts, please apply to the Strategic Finance, Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham NG2 3NG or telephone 0115 8763720.


You will be able to inspect and make copies of the documents from 1 August to 24 August 2011 (inclusive) between 9am and 12.30pm and 1.30pm and 4pm from Monday to Friday at Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham. Documents will include the accounts and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them.

Ask the auditor

While the accounts are audited by the City Council's auditor, people can ask the auditor questions about the accounts, subject to the following:

  • Questions may be asked from 10am on 2 September 2011 until the audit is completed.
  • To ask a question, you must be a local elector - ie you must have the right to vote in local government elections for Nottingham City Council.
  • You may appoint a representative to ask questions on your behalf.


Raising objections

People can also make objections to anything about which the Auditor could take action under section 17 (which deals with unlawful expenditure) of the Audit Commission Act 1998. Objections may also be raised about any matter in respect of which the auditor could make a report under section 8 of the Act.

To make an objection, write to the auditor setting out the objection and the grounds on which you are making it. Please send a copy of this to Strategic Finance, Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham NG2 3NG.
