Nottingham Local Transport Plan
Nottingham Local Transport Plan 2011 - 2026
With plans to transform our railway station into a transport hub, an extended world class tram system, and a fantastic bus network that has two award winning bus operators, Nottingham is one of the leading cities in the UK for public transport. To deliver this vision the Council needs a strong and clear strategy. The Nottingham Local Transport Plan 2011 - 2026 aims to address transport challenges facing the city and build an exemplar sustainable transport system.
The Campaign for Better Transport ranked Nottingham as the least car dependent city in the UK in 2010 - a legacy we want to maintain going forward.
The availability of transport affects our everyday lives. Because we expect the demand for transport to keep on growing we need to plan ahead. Although funding is limited at the moment, it is essential we continue to invest in our transport system to allow the economy to grow and protect the environment.
The LTP has been developed to comprise of two component documents:
LTP strategy 2011 - 2026 [9Mb] which sets out the Council's long term transport ambitions and strategy of proposals
LTP Implementation Plan 2012 - 2015 [2Mb] details the funding allocations and proposed transport measures to be funded over the next three years from April 2011 to March 2014
In addition an air quality action plan was produced in July 2010 and will be updated as part of the annual air quality management progress reports which can be downloaded from the Download section on the top right.
As part of the development of the Local Transport Plan, the City Council has conducted an Integrated Impact Assessment of the Plan. The report for the Integrated Impact Assessment and Environmental Statement is also available for download from our Integrated Impact Assessment webpage
